A steering damper used on motorcycles is a hydraulic unit that controls the speed at which the steering can move from side to side. It is in effect similar to the shock absorbers used in suspension, which limit the speed that the wheels can move in the up & down direction.
The thing shock absorbers & steering stabilizers have in common is they are designed to help the rider maintain control of the bike. Ralle-Moto manufactures a range of high precision rotary vane steering dampener that cater for the demands of different riders & uses.
The Ralle-Moto steering damper manufactured by MSC Products. The steering damper starts off as billets of 6061 T6 aircraft aluminium and are then placed into a CNC machining center. After 20 solid tungsten carbide milling cutters, drills, taps & other specialised cutting tools have had their way with the billet, the finished components are measured & checked prior to being made ready for annodising.
A rotary vane steering damper relies on the mechanical sealing of the internal vane to produce the high pressures required for effective dampening. For this reason Ralle-Moto chooses to make the internal vane installed in our damper, from 1 solid steel billet this means that not only can we hold the required tolerances in our production processes, it also means we have an extremely strong & reliable unit that will provide its owner with years of untroubled use.
